Technology and drawing

On-the-job training

1st year of training Department of Engineering, Design Tooling Equipment
- Basic training according to learning and  performance documentation
- Designing with CAD Siemens NX
- 3D printing
- Working on products for the Lux, Medical, Dental and Tools divisions 

2nd year of training 
- Workshop placement (turning, milling, drilling, assembly and measuring technology)
- Basic training according to learning and performance documentation
- Working on products for the Lux, Medical, Dental and Tools divisions
- Internal courses in: Quality Assurance and Production
- Assisting with job shadowing and helping to train the apprentice in the 1st apprenticeship year
- Determining specialised training 

3rd year of training Specialised training in the Lux division
- Drawing watch parts, jewellery and industrial items
- 3D modelling, modelling based on STP and DXF, subproject management
- Designing special tools: Milling, turning, drilling and stamping tools
- Specialisation in precious metals and their properties

4th year of training Specialised training in the Medical+Dental division 
- Dental implants and superstructures, items for hearing aids and other medical devices
- 3D modelling, modelling based on STP and DXF, subproject management
- Designing special tools: Milling, turning, drilling and stamping tools
- Specialisation in titanium, precious metals and their properties
- Regulations and medical-related change management
- Project management in Individual Practical Assessment (IPA) test runs
- IPA

Schooling

  • Four years
  • E Profile: With or without a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate
  • G Profile: Not available for design engineers
  • Branch courses in: Drawing, design, construction and production technology
  • Complete an examination module and intermediate examination (2nd apprentice ship year)

Location of training

  • Host company: training in Biel/Bienne
  • School: E Profile: BBZ Biel Berufsbildungszentrum (vocational training centre), Biel/Bienne
  • Branch courses: Zollikofen and Bern

What you bring to the table

  • At least a good school-leaving certificate at Realschule level
  • Mathematical understanding and very good math school grades
  • Good German or French skills
  • Technical understanding and spatial awareness
  • An interest in mathematics, geometry and physics
  • An affinity with computers
  • An analytical mindset

  • Patience and perseverance
